Known as the ‘Palace of the Peak’, Chatsworth house is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family. The house is renowned for the quality of its art, landscape and hospitality, and it has evolved over the centuries to reflect the tastes, passions and interests of succeeding generations.
The house itself is magnificent, but the surrounding gardens and park are also superb. There is plenty to discover at every turn in the 105-acre Chatsworth garden; with waterworks and sculptures, a Victorian rock garden and winding maze to name but a few.
The surrounding park is also a superb area of open space with fine scenery, woods and views of the house and surrounding area – an excellent place for relatively gentle walks.
